Our operations are guided by the Equality Act and the Non-Discrimination Act

According to the Constitution of Finland, no one may be discriminated against based on their personal characteristics. The Equality Act and the Non-Discrimination Act define more detailed grounds of discrimination and our obligations as an authority and employer.

In addition to the prohibition of discrimination, the laws require us to promote non-discrimination and gender equality in a goal-oriented and systematic manner in all our activities. In accordance with the Equality Act, we also take gender diversity into account in promoting equality.

Our commitment to promoting non-discrimination, gender equality and human rights is enshrined in both our strategy and our ethical principles.

The Non-Discrimination Act prohibits discrimination on the following grounds:

  • age 
  • origin
  • religion or belief
  • opinion
  • political or trade union activities
  • family relationships
  • state of health or disability
  • sexual orientation
  • other personal characteristics

The Equality Act prohibits discrimination on the following grounds:

  • gender
  • gender identity
  • gender expression
